PostThe Forest of Black Death

Things are not always what they seem here. Death lurks around every shadow. Creatures of all sorts roam around in the eternal darkness, hiding from their predators, and searching for their prey. Tread lightly here, for you may think you're at the top of the food chain, but that may be your undoing. (Random NPC fights may happen in this area)

Soft, white orbs gazed upon Charon as she began to mutilate her shoulders. A tilt in his head displayed a sense of curiousity within the canine. Though he was familar with her species; he had heard, nor seen this before. This type of strange metamorphosis odd for any creature.

Her speech, bluntly threatening as it was, seemed to serve as more substance for Victor's amusement. The corners of his mouth turned to display a soft smile. Silently, he chuckled to himself. Ivory irises fell to Sienna, still limp in his arms.

"I shouldn't have expected a child to listen to reason.", he said, as his wings began to beat heavily downward.

The speed in which he launched was moderate, given his capabilities. Sure, Victor had been injured. However, this should not affect his flight. It would seem he wanted to remain behind the femme. Perhaps to observe her. No matter the reason, Victor maintained a distance of about a few feet behind Charon.

~The union had left a clench about Charon's throat just as her thumb slid across her collar. A deep growl filled her throat at Victor's words.~ "..Watch your mouth mongrel...do not suppose this does anything to hinder my purpose..." ~Words laced with loathing filtered from her lips as the femme stood upwards. Unconciously, her arms extended towards Sienna as though it were natural to hold the girl. Victor's figure stepped between the solitary moment as the demon's arms fell.~

~It was then that Charon came upon the revelation that her mortal body was no longer stifled by the boundries of this realm. Fingers furled into a fist as if in test to this thought. Shoulders would articulate while her palms splayed outwards, feet positioned against the earth. Fingers to slide against her collar bone before she grasped her right shoulder. From her spine erupted flesh and tendon as Charon gave a cry. Small bone fragments arched from the fairer back while blood splattered against the grassy floor. Reeling forward, the boney fixtures secured from her vertabrae, tissue evolved as such to stretch and form the pair of avians that now extended from her frame.~

~Shuddering from her state, Charon stood upwards slowly as bits of bodily tissue and fluid were flapped from the extensions behind her. A deep grin of satisfaction played upon the immortal's lips when she found Victor still awaiting an answer. Her feet pushed from the ground when the leather wings gave a few flaps of insecurity before granting the femme levitation fron the earth.~ "...I would only trust you to die with a little dignity when the time approaches dog..." ~With the sting at her words, Charon carried herself into the sky but strangely she would only fly ahead of him by a few feet.~

Optical pearls rested on the motionless body, as a faint chuckled emitted through his throat. More of the crimson fluid gushed forth from Victor's thigh as he knelt before his mistress. Masculine, fur lined arms scooped her limp frame from the ground, to cradle her against his chest.

"It's been so long since I've been human. I forgot their low threshold for pain.", he said softly.

Broad shoulder's hunched, as leathery wings unfurled. Even in this position, Victor was still slightly taller than Charon. His avians slowly positioned, as if to allow placement on his back.

"I suppose you could trust me enough to give you a lift to the manor.", he suggested to Charon.

Sienna felt the knife successfully pierce the wolf's skin and muscle, however, the series of events that followed was something she did not expect. It felt like hours, maybe even days as the visions of someone she felt she knew, yet didn't, passed through her consciousness--and the pain. It wasn't as bad at first, until it became unbearable the more that the visions came. There were visions of strange places, beings, perhaps a different time, a wolf, a woman, of people dying and suffering. There were feelings she felt that she had never felt before. She wanted to shut her eyes, but the visions still came. In between the pain and the confusion, she wondered why this was happening. A scream erupted from her lips unconsciously as the pain became too unbearable it felt like her head was going to explode.

As suddenly as it came, the pain ceased, and the girl stopped convulsing. Her breathing was labored at first, as if she hasn't been breathing at all for awhile. She could feel tear stains on the sides of her eyes; perhaps she shed them in the midst of the pain. Unmoving at first, the girl heard Charon's oath. Charon. She was the one who owned the visions she had seen. "Charon....Eshtrikal....?" the girl unconsciously spoke; her voice, broken. Glossy emeralds were trained upwards, at the canopy of leaves above.

In her hand, she felt the hilt of a saber. She tried to lift her hand, to get a better look at the saber she was holding, but she was not able to lift them. She was too weak from the pain, and she concentrated her energy instead on breathing well. All she could do was clutch the hilt a bit tighter.

Crunch of leaves signaled the approach of Victor and emeralds moved to see him standing a few feet away, blood oozing from his leg. What was he saying? Stuck with who? Soon after, the girl's vision became blurry until everything went black. The girl's body went limp as she lost consciousness.

Pearling, white occules became fixated on the epidemic at hand. Not with concern, but rather a morbid curiousity. He was not aware of this little addition to the hound's race. This did, however, seem to play to his advantage. His acknowledgment signaled by a small smirk.

Blood purged from the wound with each staggered step Victor took. Muscles tore little by with each movement. Victor was too proud to show his pain in his face, though. Though his steps stooped with each progression, his face retained the same smirk. His eyes the same soft composure within the contours of it's corners.

"You're stuck with her, now.", he said to Sienna; a soft chuckle following after.

~Mortal time was still something to grow accustomed to, even as Charon's hind legs had left the earth to lunge at the girl she watched every second as if they lasted eternally. In the better turn of events, the blade would have sunk within her chest and rendered the physical body useless. As such she would return to Purgatory until resurrected, this was the better of two outcomes. One that the hound had never entertained came to rapidly for her to thwart, a gutteral tear in the Ghenna gate poured several thick chains. The events that followed occured in the same time it took for the body of the blade to sink through her ribcage and into her heart. Thick serpent-like links fed through the portal as they roped rapidly about her throat, their ebony length extending towards the human as she seem suspended in her fall to the earth. The forbidden binding slithering about Sienna's lithe wrists before melding into thick cuffs that now linked the two as one.~

~Charon's pupils widening as the human's presence flooded her veins and began to feed her form with every memory, each emotion Sienna had ever felt in her short lifetime. A piercing howl filling the air, not from the intrusion of the knife into her chest but what was now the hound's fate that exploded through her body. The last of the bond locked into place around Charon's throat leaving a crimson leather collar. How humorous the fates could be that it wasnt enough these two were now bound, but to leave a metal tag of ownership on the ring of the choker. At the same time, surely the human was being influenced by the bond now forged between them. Charon's history nearly too large for her mortal cerabellum but more than that there was pain..unspeakable pain. For as long as Charon was alive, so Sienna would remain her immortal master.~

~At last the blade's tip entered the delicate tissue of her heart as the contract was completed. The visions that rushed between the lifeforms fading in the instant wence they came. To the external view, there was a short burst of brilliance before the two became visible once more. There at Sienna's feet crouched Charon's mortal form, an arm splayed across her chest and a fashionable choker etched around her throat. Clutched in the girl's hand the same saber that the hound had inflicted upon Victor, only now it seemed to fit her palm easily. A moment of confusion it would appear before the immortal's voice filled the air.~

"...Lady Sienna, My life in place of your's...thy will forged as my own, your word to inflict hellfire upon our enemies..should death find you my sight and strength to follow..I am the protector, your guardian...speak the name "Charon Eshtrikal" and my loyalty is bound unto you until the turn of time...."~The alligence in her voice seemed to find ears far less amused by her fate, several prying eyes skittering away to greet her "Maker" with this revelation.~

The smugness about the girl quickly turned to alarm when she saw what the female did, at the same time as she realized Victor's fate. Then suddenly, the female was running towards her; Sienna watched her transform. Alarm was then forgotten as there were few options for her to protect herself from the inevitable attack. All these happened so fast, almost like a blur.

Knowing that running was not an option due to her injured foot, her hand then found the butterfly knife she placed around her thigh. Quickly, she opened the knife, just in time to see the beast lunge towards her.

Features focused on the beast and footing buckled below her as she brought her weight down, back arched backwards to slide under the she-wolf. Emerald orbs watched the beast's maw pass above her, while the knife in her hand quickly found their aim on the creature's chest.

The pain of muscle, and flesh ripping was enough to put the beast to his knees. He had been careless. Every outcome, every possible scenario he had anticipated, aside from this one. A grave mistake. Perhaps the femme had been right. Perhaps his old age had been getting the best of him. Either way, this compromised him greatly for what was about to come.

Victor watched as Charron feverously approached Sienna, unable to defend her in his state. Normally he would have been able to stop the hound before she could have even attempt her assaulted. However, it seemed she was more clever than he had anticipated, for without his leg his speed was of no use. All the beast could do now is watch on, and hope Sienna could defend herself.

"Child, I pray you know of what you attempt.", he would silently utter to Charon.

~Her knees had been tucked when she had landed from the assault, Crimson fluid trickling from the tip of the saber. Rising, Charon extended the blade's edge towards her lips. Tissue of her tongue severed when the weapon skimmed along the tastebuds. Sanguine DNA stained the small muscle in an odd display, the femme turned towards the beast.~

~Her next actions completely peculiar when Charon sank the saber into her own thigh. Spurt of her blood cast in the air just as the Human had stepped from the trees. A deep grin of satisfaction etched upon her lips the hound would watch Victor stumble upon one leg. The same wound seemingly inflicted between the couple as Charon withdrew the blade, her gaze drawn over the mortal.~

~Less than a moment's time, her feet kicked up grass as she began to rush towards the girl. Her calves suddenly splitting open with muscle and tendon, the upper torso peeling away to pour the body of the hound from its corpse. Mandible unhinged as Charon lunged towards the human the beast pushing up from the ground in efforts to snap the girl's neck in two. All this a scene of slow motion for Victor as her intentions had been made painfully clear.~

Leaves crunched softly underneath limping footsteps. Emerald optics looking to and from a device tracker, which fit snugly in one small hand. She swatted a feeding mosquito on her right thigh, scratching on it a little, to leave a reddish streak on her skin. She continued on her trek once again, emeralds alert for any danger notorious to the Forest.

The blinking red dot on her tracker was now very near, however, she noticed that a few meters ahead, smoke rose from somewhere near the proximity of the red dot on her tracker. The sun was steadily rising now, illuminating, and warming the back of her head as she continued to walk forward.

Using the trunk of a big tree as her hiding place, back was laid flat upon the rough bark as the tracking device was placed in her pocket. She turned so that her front was now in touch with the rough bark, as her head slowly peeked out, with a mischievous smile on her face. From her vantage point, she could see Victor's winged back, his trio of tails swinging. On the far left, were the remains of a charred tree, smoke still rising from it. She wondered where that came from, when emeralds trailed towards the form of a female, standing opposite of Victor. Sly smile grew, thinking that the female was a 'friend' of Victor's.

"What's annoying?" she asked out loud after hearing Victor speak; casually walking out of hiding, features looking smug.

A cot smirk curved into the lips of the winged canine as he watched the transformation unfurl before him. Cleverly, he had plotted every outcome of this ordeal, since they had left the manor. Yet, strangely, he had not seized this opportunity to subdue the femme as she went through the rather lengthy sessions. It seemed her ravenous attempts to destroy him brought the male some warped sense of amusement.

As she had bolted to pin his shoulders, via the sterling sabers, Victor had simply stepped to the side. Though her attack did not reap it's intended purpose, it did seem that Victor had underestimated his opponent's versatility. A small trickle of crimson beaded, and trailed down his right arm. Remnants of the fluit stained upon the tip of her saber.

"That's annoying.", Victor said; after having collected the fluid upon his fingertips, and inspecting it.

~The horizon of another mortal day rose from behind the clouds of ash and smoke. Its cursed mass shining through the protective flora, the shewolf fumbled backwards when the impenetrable ultraviolets licked at her paws. Victor's wisdom greatly outmatched Charon's perspective of the mutt, sadly the facts of her species were misconstrued.~

~Seemingly at an odds, there came a moment of tribulation for the male as his plan had caught the female by surprise. That was, until he watched the shewolf step directly into the forbidden sunlight. What should have ignited the flesh and boiled the innerds merely played upon the lavish hues of her pelt. Suddenly Charon's extremities elongated and grew towards a verticle suspension. Once canine haunches now cracked and twisted to form ankles and calves. Muzzle sunken inward and ribbons of her tail now diminished from view. The onyx pelt effortlessly peeling from pale flesh beneath before altering to a dermis texture. Locks of ebony now smoothed over the scalp of the woman who stood before him.~

~Mortal flesh to bend and adjust to their environment while holographic pentagrams swarmed along supple breasts and the dip of her pelvis. Other worldly fabrics soon adorning the skin and clutched her contours tightly in its manifest. The last of her apparel clinging to Charon's thighs as twin sabres whined and groaned for the taste of freedom.~

~Sunlight merely reflected from the glorious being tthat stood from wence the hound had been, but the eerie twisted grin relinquished any doubts of her identity. Rushing forward, this form appeared more agile and quite adept with the blades that had suddenly been unsheathed in a her brief movements. Fists to clutch their hilts when both metal pinnacles pierced forth aiming for Victor's shoulder.~

The burst of pyromatic energy would find it's mark upon the trunk of a tree. Flames engulfed the bark, rising high above the branches. Victor, as it appeared, was no where in sight. His inhuman speed made it near impossible to spot him. This, of course, had been planned since the beginning of their, some may say, one-sided quarrel.

"So blind are you by misguided loyalty, that you turn a deaf ear to reason, and ensured my plans to their intended purpose.", he calmly stated, now behind her, as he poitined one clawed digit to the rapidly vanishing canopy.

Branches crackled, sizzled, and fell as the flames spread at a rapid rate. Within the fading foliage was the rays of the evening sun. Vibrant beams of light, first shining on Victor, then approaching Charron at an alarming rate. Gleams of a bright curse, emanating her in her own fiery trap.

"Canis Ignus, you're species is not unknown to me, child.", he arrogantly revealed.

~At his ignorant gestures, Charon came upon the revelation that his ageless years gave him more knowledge then she credited him. The limits of her abilities in the mortal realm were well known among beasts and creatures alike. His words on the other hand only served to heave a bit of molten heat at his feet as she scoffed.~

"..Do you really believe the Dark Lord a mockery that he would send his lieutenant for a souless mutt?...You misjudge my words Victor..I have come for the souls of the lives you have taken throughout your meaningless existence...even those of the loved ones you carelessly lead to their deaths...has seniality made you forget those deaths?...it's no bother really..and I will gladly take that girl's soul as well just as restitution for keeping me in this wretched plane so long..."

~The mockery behind her fangs only widened at the prospect of securing the human's soul. Muzzle brimming with hellfire, Charon met Victor's stance by hurling an explosive mass of the flammable substance at his chest.~

The posture of the beast made it quite clear of his concerns rgarding the femme's threats. Arms crossed arrogantly across his chest, leathery wings folded tight to his back. He couldn't have proven more his lack of concern if he had blatantly stated so. Although, the unprovoked yawn did add a nice touch.

"Huff, and puff as you wish. You'd have to catch me first.", he said; displaying a sarcating, toothy grin.

His pearly whites, however, soon vanished behind the ebony muzzle. Lifting himself from the trunk of the tree, Victor then, quite boldly, approached Charron. With his hands to his side, and the trio of tails limp, the canine showed no hints of hostility.

"If you would have allowed me to speak before, I could have explained to you that I have no soul to steal. It was forfeited upon my creation. The only part of this body that is mine, is my brain. ", he explained; upon reaching her, minding to keep a safe distance.

~The treck had been one of immense tension. Both minds in a flurry of scenarios as the daylight was snuffed by twisted canopies above. This forest beckoned more than just an eerie quiet as though the trees themselves watched as they stood. The stale grass mingled between her digits when the female came to a stop.~

"..Are you aware of the debt imparted to you Victor Kilgannon?..Your life is one of damnation as such the souls your body clings to belong to "Him"..."~Her voice now spoken from between the smoke filled maw, The shewolf drew her impenetrable gaze towards his figure.~"...I am Charon Ereshkigal..Beast of the underworld, Mongrel of Ghenna and I am here to collect the debt you owe.."

~At this and the flicker of her tail, the nether plane ripped apart in several pentagrams. Putrid haze pouring forth as the beast cast back the third eyelid to reveal pools of a shade of red he had never known. Her pelt seemingly stretched amd contorted as muscles bulged and grew the female to a size greater than before. Reeling forth, Charon's chest inflated with smoldering cinder as she readied the inferno swelling in her breast.~

It was only about 30 mins before Kain had it figured out. Life support, navigation, tactical, weapons, medical, cloaking; the whole works. He had complete control of the alien ship. Only one thing stood between him and his beloved.

To the naked eye it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to see faint ripples rise into the air then slowly gain speed into the night, headed towards Cimmerian.

Through the darkness hoof beats can be heard, the steady strong sound of a equine walking through the darkness. The hoof beats stop, a loud snort is heard, a light starts to appear through the darkness. That light shines over a woman of beauty and grace, her hair long thick and black, her eyes blue like the blue in the best lapas lazuli, her wings spread out behind her black like a butterfly's in black and white, she had on a loose sleeveless dress that appeared to be made of blue velvet but was lighter weight than velvet, with black gloves going up to her elbows to match, she was barefooted and sitting on top a majestic black unicorn stallion. The light was coming from a staff the woman was holding up, it was made of black wood and the seemingly pure light was coming from a crystal on the top of the staff.

Her eyes scan the area at the animals scurrying away from the light until they fall on the source of the unicorn's snort. A large black wolf was standing in front of her, his upper lip started to curl into a growl as they locked eyes.

The faierie woman merely smiled at the wolf and said a few words in a old language, probably that of the faierie, her voice was pure like a young forest. With those words the wolf calmly bowed its head and walked away, and then the light went out and the sound of the unicorn's hoof beats walking through the forest began again

Returning to a stance upon his hind legs once more, Victor's bones and muscles creaked, and popped as they shifted to a more human-like structure. His legs extending slightly, as his torso shortened. Fore paws replaced with slender, clawed digits. Finally, his shoulders broadened to a substantial length.

Wrapping his boney fingers around the girl's shoulders, Victor effortlessly hoisted her to his shoulders, as his leathery wings ourspread.. His motions, however, calm enough to allowing her slumber as they travel.

The massive, rudimentary avians beat heavily as they gently lifted the two from the forest floor. The torrent of gusts caused by this action sent a volley of dust, leaves, and twigs spiraling out from the two. Within a matter of seconds they were airborne, and out of sight.

Sienna felt the change in his demeanor at her question, suddenly realizing that she may have been rude. For a moment, features showed worry, unexpectedly regretting what she said. Perhaps it was because of the sadness in his tone, the soft look in his eyes, that made her waver.

She sighed softly. “I’m sorry I said that. I was insensitive.” Her hand ruffled the fur under his chin.

After a few moments, the girl would yawn, her free hand covering her mouth. “By the way, what’s your name?” She asked, leaning back on the tree, her gaze never leaving the beast. Lids were starting to feel heavy, and she continually fought to let it stay open. When the beast should answer, he would find that the girl had fallen to sleep.

As his rear rested upon the cold forest floor, his ears lowered upon his head. The question beckoned a sense of melancholy, and regret. Being subtle in it's nature, the query caught him off guard. Thus causing a reaction accordingly. Hence, the gloomed tone he now emitted.

"I have done many terrible things. All in the name of a power hungry tyrant, craving more than he deserved. My actions cost a toll I never imagined I would pay", he quietly explained.

A soft whimper accompanied his chin resting just upon her knee. His soft, gray fur bristled across the tender flesh of her hand. Soft, pearling orbs gazed up to her visage in a rather gloomy manner.

"Unless you order otherwise, I would wish not to return to that life.", he softly finished.

Her hand was still extended, from touching his head, when the beast turned to offer his back. Instead, she lay her hand on his furry, exposed back and tugged on a large chunk of his hair.

Sienna scoffed. "We can't go home now. My house is quite far from here and I would like to rest for awhile." The usual tenacity in her voice was back, even if it was just a little. Her hand retreated to rest on her leg, when she gazed suspiciously at the best. "You're not going to eat me while I rest, right?"

Even though the beast seemed kind to her, the stories she read from the books and her research refused to leave her mind.

Leather bound wings folded upon the beast's back as he turned his broadside to her. Milky white pearls gazed softly upon her as his forelegs buckled to shift his mass at a downward slope allowing his master seating upon his back. An act based on judgement, observed by her fatigued composure.

"Let us retreat to your lodging for tonight, m'Lady" he softly suggested, his tone now more quiet than before.

Victor seemed oddly accepting of his newly acquired role into servitude. After all, he was little more than a slave now. However, something about this young woman put him at ease. Tenacious, as she was, she seemed to embody a quality of innocence about her. And, perhaps, a welcomed sense of naivety.

When the beast stood in his natural stance, she was quite surprised. With his calmness, she finally saw him as just a simple looking wolf--well, discounting his wings and tails, that is. She wondered what was fearsome about this beast since she never saw him growl or try to be aggressive since his reanimation.

When he approached her, she felt a bit nervous, and she froze, until his snout brushed her hand. Emerald ocules softened. In truth, Sienna had always loved animals.

She gazed at him with a mix of softness and wonder. Right hand rose slowly, fingers extended delicately towards the upper side of his snout, stopping just a few centimeters above the fur to glance at his visage. Tip of fingers landed on the fur, then traced upward, passing the space between his eyes, towards his head where her full hand lay flat to pat him gently. “I never had a pet before...” her tone was soft, almost nostalgic, as if she was remembering something from her memory.

Her words crashed down on him heavily. She was right. Everything, all the great things he accomplishe; all at the order of another. Victor, it would seem, was nothing more than a glorified pet. A tool to perform at his master's amusement. A lowly lap dog.

Forepaws placed lightly on the ground, the beast's natural stance, before he calmly approached her. Twin, leather, rudimentary avians fluttered slightly as the trio of tails swayed gracefully, to, and fro. Hollowed, white occules gazed up softly upon her.

"I don't like it anymore than you.", he stayed, brushing his snout to her hand. A typical canine attempt of comforting.
